Dear Uncle Allan,
Well it's now fully into winter and I'm sure you're enjoying your holiday from the crops ;) Just kidding. I'm sure you're busy with lots of things. If only you could have the winters off to go somewhere hot eh? I wish I could too. I guess Newfoundland is a little warmer than Alberta...but not by much. Plus we still get lots of snow here. So if you plan on taking a holiday in the winter I advise not to come here, unless you want to be stranded on an island due to cancelled or delayed flights.
I'm glad I got out to the farm this Christmas and got to hang out with you guys. I know blizzards aren't fun and all, but I'm kind of happy I got stranded there that night. The farm has to be one of my favorite places in all the places I've been. I know some people would think I'm crazy for saying that, but it almost feels more like home than mom and dad's place. Maybe it's because it's one of the only places that hasn't changed since I've been alive. Whatever it is I love it.
So I guess that leads me to thank you for everything you did for me growing up. I got to experience the farm life because of you and I couldn't be more grateful. I'm not a complete city girl ;) I've driven a tractor or two, branded cattle, rode many horses, chased cows through the pasture, and found the biggest rock during harvest with Tess thanks to you. There are so many memories I have just hanging around the farm.
Not only is the farm so special, but all the other times we spent together on camping trips and road trips. I'm glad dad and you are so close. It helps me realize the importance of staying close to your siblings. It opens doors for your family and keeps relationships healthy. I know we always bug you about being so close, but we're really happy for it too.
You're one of the strongest people I know. You've been through a lot and you've been one of the most supportive persons I know. Thank you for everything you've done and I hope this year brings healthy and full crops!
Love you.
Sincerely,
Yvette
